How can I help?

What the World Forum needs more than anything else in these early days is promotion. If you like this site and would like to help it to become a thriving community, here are some ideas.
  • Tell everyone you know about the World Forum. Word of mouth is better than any other form of advertising.
  • If you have a website, you can link to us either via a text link or one of our buttons (here and here). Banner ads will be available shortly.
  • Post comments as often as you can. More comments will entice more visitors, which in turn will result in more comments and so on and so on...
  • You can also post stories, which will be moderated by other users. It can be a news story, an essay, or a review of the latest book you read or film you saw.
  • You can also post blog entries, which get posted automatically with requiring any moderation. If you happen to be a blogger, feel free to cross-post your blog's entries here. Try to keep them on-topic though, e.g. about politics, world affairs, etc. as opposed to, say, your cat.

How long has the World Forum been around?

It's brand new!

So who is this Drog guy anyway, and why did he create this site?

Drog lives near Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Drog is a software developer with a physics background. He created the science news/discussion site SciScoop, under the orginal name Sci-Fi Today, in November of 2002. After six months, he gave up the day-to-day operations of the site, but still plays a hand in it. He launched The World Forum in October, 2004.

Who else is involved in the site?

Our Editors are you look like a nail and QuickFox. There's the helpful folks at Scoophost, where this site is hosted. But most importantly, there are the World Forum users like you. This is a community-oriented site--everyone with an account can submit stories, moderate stories, post comments and rate comments.

Can I syndicate from this site?

Sure can. We have a my.netscape format RDF backend. The link is http://www.theworldforum.org/backend.rdf. The World Forum headlines are now available on Kuro5hin and will soon be available on Hulver's Site and Slashdot.

What is Scoop?

Scoop is the GPL engine that runs this site. The engine itself, and more information about it can be found at scoop.kuro5hin.org.
