Voting on stories

Just a reminder to everyone, stories that are submitted by users go to a voting queue, where they await our votes to decide whether they should be posted to the frontpage, posted to the section pages, or dumped.

There is one story in there right now (click on the Submissions link in your userbox at the top of the right column of the front page), which has been awaiting votes for awhile now. Thus far, I'm the only one who voted on it (I voted it to the section pages, myself).

For some time, though, I have been considering simply abandoning the submission queue and going the route of other Scoop sites, such as Daily Kos, where everyone just posts their Blog Entries directly and everyone else can vote them to the frontpage or not.

However, although blog entries can be of any topic, their section is always "Diary" rather than a geographic location. I suppose I could maybe hack the code to include a new field "location".

Anyone have any thoughts?

Though I haven't had much experience with different methods. Part of the problem is we just need more people to check it.

I don't understand what this is about. Perhaps I don't spend enough time researching the instructions.
I have posted one item without difficulty.
But at the moment, I find that I don't know how to post a new story.

When you log in, there's a link about new submissions. Click there and you can vote on them. I didn't find any instructions other than that (I just happened to click on the link, 'cause hey, new stuff!).

Maybe if you put it in red, like the "new submissions" info, it would be more noticible. For what it's worth, I did see that there was a FAQ, I just haven't looked into it much.

You are correct - never read it - never knew it existed.
I still haven't read it all, but by just glancing at it, I suspect it will tell me all about this "voting on stories" topic.
I have never voted on a story. I have participated in a couple of polls that are posted on the right side of the page. Are there other polls?
I have seen this "voting up or down" process referenced, but have not investigated how to do it. Maybe that is what happens to some of my inputs.
Will have to read your FAQs now that I know they exist.

Where it go? I read it before, thought that it was very good. I believe that this Demosthenes has very good insight. I heard story was hidden. Why was that?
It seemed that Demosthenes was only investigating the current state affairs in our world, and realizing what will happen in future.
Did people think Demosthenes was lying, trying spreading panic? I think that story should put back on the nets.
